Reunion Recap

I spent all day Friday getting ready to leave. I went to S*ms's club to stock up, cleaned the house upstairs and down (nobody likes to come back to a mess), packed, bathed the boys, made a bunch of sandwiches and baked two batches of brownies for the potluck dinner. We left early Saturday, leaving behind all the sandwiches and our hotdogs. Ugh. At least we remembered the brownies. Anyway the reunion was great, as it always is. Isaac won a beach towel and a solar powered lantern in the auction, so he is happy as a lark.

So yeah, the reunion was wonderful. Camping, however, was exhausting. Jonah is at such a tough age, not old enough to listen real well but old enough to move fast and be a stinker. Even at home I get so tired of chasing him outside after just a little while. So trying to keep an eye on the stinker and hold a baby was tiring, even though plenty of people were happy to hold Sadie. Plus, it was pretty cold last night, and it was the worst night of sleep I had since I was in the hospital. We were considering staying tonight too, but decided that one night was plenty this year. Next year Jonah will be easier though, so we will probably camp longer.

Our picture taking consisted of Jeremiah taking the camera out yesterday and snapping about 30 pictures in 10 minutes. There were a lot of cameras though, so if your family I'm sure you will see some better pics on the reunion website.

When Your #1 Fan Talks...

...you listen. I found this in my inbox this morning:

Hon-

You haven't updated in a week? Whadup w/that>?
Lay off the sewing for a couple mins! :)

So I guess should post something. There hasn't been a whole lot going on here. I've been sewing a lot. I have also been sitting outside as much as possible so the boys can ride their bikes on the road (they can't unless one of us is outside). Actually, sitting isn't the right word. More like chasing Jonah with a baby in my arms. I can also say that I have found a couple different ways to bring five kids and a dog for a walk. Some days it goes amazingly well, other days...not so well.

I get to make flower girl dresses for my niece and step-niece. I am so excited about this! I was hoping to do something fancy, but my sister wants simple. Either way...I'm excited.

All around me, other homeschoolers are already receiving their materials for the school year. I have barely even thought about school yet. I do know that we will not be purchasing a full curriculum like last year. This year we will have two kids in "school". I'm considering starting Sammy with Elijah. They are not even 19 months apart in age, and when you take in account their different personalities, it just might work. We'll see.

We're going camping this weekend for Jeremiah's family reunion. That's always a good time and we've been looking forward to it.

I have noticed a significant reduction in Sadie's spitting up since I cut out dairy. I guess it will be no dairy for me for awhile.

There you have it. That's what's new here. And I will even throw in a picture for you:

Two Month Check Up

Sadie was 2 months on Monday. She had her checkup this morning. She weighs 8 lbs 10 oz and is 21 inches long. About the 5th percentile for both. It's hard to believe that Elijah weighed only a few ounces less at birth! I'm supposed to go on a strict dairy elimination diet, which I guess means no more milk chocolate. However, I'm ready to try anything to stop some of this spitting up.

The other day I was running a little late and I asked Jeremiah to get Sadie dressed. This is what I found a few minutes later:

For those of you unschooled in the art of baby clothes, it's supposed to look like this:

Kind of looks like she was happy with it on backwards though, huh?

More Sunday Best

I spent 20 minutes in the store shopping for some fabric to make a headband to match this dress. I finally gave up and went home only to find that I already had some fabric that matched almost perfectly.

Finally!

I feel like I have been waiting forever for some smiles! Babies generally start to smile (on purpose) between 4-6 weeks. Sadie is a little late (8 weeks), but that's because she was 3 weeks early.

Pet Show

Poor Mary Jane, suffering the indignity of being dressed up and not even placing in the pet show. Some of the pets were dressed very elaborately, and they were all so cute! The first place went to bride and groom dogs. This was the first Cherry Festival Pet Show we attended, so now that I have an idea how it works I will really have her decked out next year.

Mary Jane just loves me...

can't you tell from this pic? Truthfully, I think she is probably dog cursing me in her mind.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

You probably thought a mom of five had no time for things such as making dog clothes. Your also probably wondering why I would make dog clothes. Well, there is a pet show coming up and there was really no category we could think of entering Mary Jane except "best dressed". Isaac thought she should wear a dress and I surfed around to get an idea how to make one. So if your dog is ever in need of some formal wear...you know who to call.

Puppet Show

The boys checked out some puppets from the library today. They decided to put on a puppet show for me. After lots of planning and preparation, they were ready. So I sat down to watch. Guess what? I had to watch a "commercial" before it started.
