Winter Survival Kit

January may be over, but I'm sure February will be more of the same. This winter has been especially snowy, even for up here in Northern Michigan. This is how I've been surviving the winter:

First, you gotta have your chocolate. Do I even have to say that? Then you have to have your exercise to work off the chocolate and help keep the winter blues away. I like Leslie Sansone's workouts, but I prefer to turn down the TV volume and turn up my own music. Good books are a must. Board games are fun for the (many) days your snowed in. Currently, Jeremiah and I are tied 2-2 in Scrabble. New summer dress patterns to work on remind you that winter will not last forever, even if the basement is freezing cold while you try to sew. Tea is almost as satisfying as hot chocolate and much healthier. Throw in some new Lost episodes and winter is almost bearable!

One thing I forgot in this picture...play doh! The boys have spent hours upon hours playing with their play doh. Of course, anything that keeps them quiet and occupied for hours is also good for me.

Questions...

Choose your favorite(s) to answer... Elaborate as much or as little as you want.

1. What do you listen to in the car? Talk Radio/music Radio/CD or nothing. Does anybody actually prefer silence in their car?
2. Do you have an Ipod? If so, what's the last thing you loaded on it.
3.Do you have a Facebook page? Am I your friend?
4. What's the best book you read last year?
5. What's the best movie you watched last year?
6. Do you buy music online?
7. What is one brand you are loyal to?
8. Did you watch Lost last week? If so, what did you think?
9. What do you hope to accomplish in 2009?
10. M&Ms or Skittles?

Pictures Again!

I managed to purchase the correct card reader so I can finally post pictures again!

Here is a birthday pic of Elijah that I didn't get to post on his birthday:

Bullets

  • I guess the holidays are offically over for us. We just had our homeschool parents holiday party this past weekend. That was the final "holiday" event on our calendar.
  • I still can't post pictures. I bought a new card reader, but of course it wasn't for the type of card our camera uses.
  • Lost starts next week. If only I could remember what happened last season...
  • Is it just me, or does January always feel like the looongest month?
  • Sometimes, there are just too many choices.
  • Sadie keeps saying this word that sounds like "a-puh-ga". I have no idea what it is. It sounds like hamburger, but I'm pretty sure that's not what she is saying.
  • I am definitely not a movie buff, but here are four movies coming out this year from books I love: Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Time Traveler's Wife, HP and The Half-Blood Prince, and New Moon.
  • Anybody watch the movie Wuthering Heights? There are several versions of it on film. I want to see the 1992 version, because it's supposed to be closest to the book.
  • Today during school, Isaac,Elijah and I played Scrabble. I got the idea from other homeschooling moms. It's great for spelling and learning new words. There also a few math games I want to try and find.
  • Has anybody read Inkheart?
  • Hopefully, we will be taking a trip to North Carolina after my sister has her baby this winter.

Birthdays

I can't post any photos right now, but I just have to wish Happy Birthday to some specials guys.

Elijah turned 7 yesterday. He said he didn't feel seven in the morning, but by evening he did.
We celebrated his birthday a few days earlier while my parents were here this weekend.

Jeremiah's birthday is today. He actually requested cornbread instead of birthday cake. Then he made it before I even had a chance! Have I mentioned lately how much I love that man??
