Here are some of the barrettes I've been making. The first ones I made to match the dress she is wearing in the picture I posted a couple weeks ago. Michaels had ribbon 3/$1.00 so I won't be running out of that anytime soon!

Thursday

Checking in for my weekly blog post...

  • I ordered some plain plastic barrettes a few weeks ago so I could make some curly ribbon barrettes for Sadie. Once I got started making those, I did not want to stop! I did stop eventually, because I ran out of ribbon.
  • W@l-Mart is closing their fabric department here (in most, if not all, their stores). That really bummed me out. We have other options here, but I know some areas don't have many places to buy fabric. Boo W@l-mart.
  • It's interesting to see what library books the boys want. We are on such different wavelengths. Hurricanes, tornados, jets, tanks or animals.
  • Isaac and Elijah area both taking German during enrichment classes. The only problem is I can't help them study their flash cards because I have no idea how to pronounce those words!
  • Jonah has no problem staying in his class this semester without me. Last semester I couldn't leave him. It's amazing how much difference a couple months can make.
  • I'm almost finished reading The Indian in the Cupboard to the boys. I forgot what a great book that was. Even Jonah listens sometimes. We're going to watch the movie when I finish. I can't remember if it's any good or not though.
  • I sat here much too long thinking up these bullets.

Pictures

It's already been a week?? I have no idea how I used to update several times a week. Actually, I'm pretty sure that had something to do with having a laptop.

Anyway, I thought I would just browse through the pictures on the computer and post some recent ones of all the kids. I meant to take new pictures of each of the kids to post, but I forgot to and it's already late so I'm just posting some that were already on the computer.

Sewing

Enrichment classes started today for our homeschool group. I am helping with two sewing classes. One is for grades 3-5, one for grades 6-12. I really enjoyed this! It was so fun seeing all the different sewing machines that the girls (yes, all girls) brought in. Some were quite old and made me apprciate all the new features on mine. I especially enjoyed helping the younger girls because they were so excited to learn how to use their machines. I imagine this was the first time that many of them had permission to touch the machines. I overheard one girl say "my mom told me not to let my finger even get near the needle!" I'm looking forward to the rest of the classes.

I can't wait until Sadie is old enough to learn how to sew.
