Fashion

This is what can happen when dads choose their daughter's clothes. Note that the "shorts" are actually boy's newborn pants.

Staycation Complete

Well, today was back to our normal routine. Last week was very nice, very long and very...strange. It felt so weird to have Jeremiah home all week AND not do school (we took our Spring break last week). I felt like I had SO much extra time, yet I feel like I didn't get much accomplished. I did get out of the house a lot, and I did a lot of reading but none of the sewing I was hoping to do.

The boys got to fly their kites several time, and go to Chuck E. Cheese. Which is where I think they picked up the lovely stomach flu we've been experiencing here since Saturday night. We had such an exceptionally healthy winter in our home, I thought maybe we somehow managed to avoid the bug this year but no such luck.

Today, I AM going to get some sewing done.

I Couldn't Make Something Like This Up...

Early this morning we left for our vacation. Nothing big, just a quick trip to see my sisters and do a little hiking in the Appalachians. So we pack up the van (not a small task with a family of seven) and we're driving merrily along for about three hours when a turkey -yes a turkey-flew into our windshield! Of course it's Sunday morning and no auto glass places are open, and the one that is wouldn't be able to fix it until tomorrow. Not to mention most of our vacation money will now go to replace the windshield. So we just came back home and I guess we'll have a "staycation".

Tax Day Tea Party

For those of you unaware, there will be Tea Parties all over the country today to protest the federal government's spending (among other things).

We had a great turnout in our city.

Easter Pics

We had a really good trip to the U.P. The weather was beautiful, and we even got to see two of my siblings that I didn't expect to see.

Easter

I certainly don't want to have my only post for the week be a political rant!

Tomorrow we are heading to the U.P to spend Easter with family. We will be seeing a lot of family in the few days we are up there, so that will be nice. The boys have been waiting months for this trip.

I hope everybody has a wonderful and blessed Easter.

Picking my jaw up off the floor...

According to a recent Rasmussen poll, only 53% of Americans think capitalism is better than socialism. No wonder Obama was elected! What the heck are they teaching (or not teaching) kids in school???

Bullets

  • This is going to be a busy month. I have 3 trips planned for this month! I also have several things I need to finish making for my sister's baby before our trip down there.
  • What a circus we have going on in Washington. They ought to sell tickets.
  • I didn't add enough water to the pea soup I was making a couple days ago and it turned into sludge. I was so bummed because I was with my friends all afternoon thinking there was going to be some good soup for dinner, but nope, just sludge.
  • I watched Fireproof yesterday and really liked it.
  • Today at the store the cashier said "I assume this is a daycare you have with you?" That is actually one I haven't heard yet.
  • I've had Isaac and Elijah start journals. Typical of boys, they stick to the facts such as what they did today or what they are going to do tomorrow. It's something I really want them to keep doing.
  • Isaac and Elijah both say they like German better than Spanish.
  • Has anybody read The Mortal Instruments trilogy? If so, what did you think?
