tsk tsk California....
A judge in California recently dealt a huge blow to homeschoolers in that state, essentially making it illegal.
Regardless of what you think of homeschoolers, even if you would never homeschool yourself, I hope you believe in liberty and the fundamental parental right to educate your children how you see best. I hope you believe that every parent has the right to pull their child out of school and educate them at home if they deem it necessary.
If so, please sign the Home School Legal Defense Association's petition. You do not have to be a homeschooler to sign it. Please send California a message that America stands behinds the freedom to homeschool.

That's absolutely rediculous!! What gives the government the right to tell us how to raise and educate our children? I am not a homeschooler, as you know, but that doesn't mean that I don't 100%support those who chose to do it. If you have the means, the patience, and the support to do it, then that is your business, nobody elses. I signed it. It irrates me to know end how this world is going to sh*t!
I heard that on the radio today and I was very upset! That is rediculous! As long as the students' tests scores are fine (which they are a lot better than pulic school scores), there is not one thing the governtment should be doing! They should be thanking the parents for giving the child a better education than a lot of schools give. The one on one education is priceless....
This makes me very angry. Especially with all the new garbage they are allowing in their schools and the fact that you can not remove your children from that harm. Makes me sick. I will most definetly sick that petition. I don't homeschool, but I don't think it should be illegal. To each his own. UGH, makes me ashamed to have lived there. I hope it is overthrown and other states to not follow suit.
Wow. What's the world coming to??!!
I'm heading over now to sign it!
Thanks for putting a link to the petition as I hadn't gotten there yet...so I finally signed it. Unreal...
I signed it too. We probably won't homeschool, but I support those who do. I don't know how much this will help sway those in California though.
Amie, if I could sign the petition, I would! What a disgrace, that a so-called democratic country would allow one man - essentially - to make such a decision. It is often sprouted that Australia is following in America's footsteps... Not in this way, please God! Naomi
It's not even just about homeschooling. The state of CA has taken the foundational rights of a parent away. It's almost like telling vegan parents that they have to feed their kids meat. Or telling parents that they have to dress their children in certain clothes. I know those are far fetched and will probably never happen but they are taking away parental rights. This isn't democracy, it's NOT American, it's communism.
If you believe in BEING a PARENT to your children than you should sign this petition - even if you don't support homeschooling - some day it may be that this is the building block to take away even more of your rights as a parent.
I can't believe that!
I was just admiring the dress you made for Elizabeth- it's gorgeous! And I got to reading your blog...you're so talented! Gee whiz, I can't sew a button on. And as for home schooling- I will definitely sign the petition. With all these school shootings, I'm considering my child right here at home- where he's safe for goodness sakes!
