My Book Rating System
Last summer, near the end of my pregnancy I was reading a lot. I came up with this system to rate the books. 1-5 stars as follows:
* - Quit reading after a few chapters, no intention to finish.
** - Doesn't leave nightstand, picked up only when nothing else to do. Sometimes finished, sometimes returned to library unfinished.
*** - Stays on nightstand but read every night.
**** - Carried out to the living room in the morning, will read when have a spare moment during the day.
***** - Family is liable to be neglected (fortunately these books are read quickly)

I can verify that her little system is accurate. Amie asked me what I thought her current book "The Broker" by John Grisham was rated and we both laughed as I correctly said a "4."
Perfect! I identify! I luuuv those five star books, but alas, they are so few and far between.
Wish I read enough to use something like this :)
I can relate to your rating books. I just read a book that, for me, was a 5. I got it from the library, it sat for about a week, and when I picked it up and 36 hours later I had read it -- about 350 pages. It was what we used to call a "page turner." The title is Baker Towers. When my kids were young and we were at my parent's cottage I took a book along and got so involved in it I resented having to stop to make dinner. I love books like that.
What are some of your 5 star books?
I too, love reading. I have taken it up again in the past year. I used to read endlessly. Then, for some reason, I didn't have time anymore (Could it be the 4 kids, NAH!) BUT, I've decided that I'm a better mom with a book than without! Who are some of your favorite authors? I have been reading everything I can by Dean Koontz. I also LOVE anything by Tim LaHaye.
I agree with the little things too. Mi esposa is a wonderfully traditional latina and any little thing that shows I thought about her then I get points woohoo! it may take a while, but sometimes we guys get it right lol you wives are awesome to put up with us and God give us strength when we put up with some of your things lol do NOT interpret that as an attempt to start any lengthy blog thing LOL
Genevieve,
5 star books are so few and far between, here are a few that I can think of: Rilla of Ingleside by L.M Montgomery, The Mark of the Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers, Abduction by Robin Cook, Baby Catcher by Peggy Vincent.
Dana,
Some of my favorite authors are Bodie and Brock Thoene, Francine Rivers, Robin Cook, John Grisham, L.M Montgomery. With the exception of a few all their books are solid four stars ( a couple five, a couple three)
That's a great rating system!! You've named a few books that I haven't read yet. I must look them up. :-)
Over to visit you Amie ... thank you for the comment you left on my blog.
I laughed when I read this post, because you sound like me!
Happy reading! :o)
