More Wildlife

We observed this little frog for a few minutes than let him go. I did not want a frog hopping around my house like Andrea had a while back! Posted by Picasa

My corner

This is all I ever asked for in a house, a place to keep my sewing machine. I have always had to use the dining room table for sewing. That is a major inconvienence. Either the table is half covered with my sewing stuff, or I have to pack up my stuff in the middle of a project to put it away. Now I have my own little corner downstairs in our den.

The other half of the room is the computer and book case. Perfect, so now Jeremiah and I can chat while I sew and he plays madden on the computer just like we used to when the computer used to be in the kitchen at our old house. I call it "chatting", Jeremiah probably calls it me interrupting him. Posted by Picasa

R & R

Reading and Relaxation. Lately, i've been spending the better part of the day sitting in the shade reading while the boys play outside. As a mom, there are few opportunities where you can enjoy true guilt-free reading. One is while breastfeeding, and another is while you sit outside with your children. We're not outside for five minutes before neighbor kids are wandering over to play, which to me is the sign of a healthy neighborhood.

The other day I spend a while talking to our next door neighbor, who also happens to go to our church. We have never met in church even though we have both been going for years, that gives you an idea how big our church is. Anyway, I was so happy to hear her mention her Dr. Sears baby book. A Christian AP mom next door? Unbelievable.

When people told us that God had the perfect place for us, I would nod and agree. I'm not sure I really believed it though. I do now!

So long Bobby, it was nice knowing you

The other night, a neighbor boy brought over his turtle Jeff (pictured). The boys were very excited to meet Jeff and play with him (her?). As luck would have it, the very next day we nearly ran over a turtle on the way to town. We picked him up, brought him home and he was promptly named Bobby. The boys spent a while playing with him, then came in the house and left him on the front deck. Turns out little Bobby was a speed turtle. When the boys went back outside just a little while later he was gone. They were a upset and spent a long time searching, but he is gone. That concludes their first experience with a pet. Posted by Picasa

Happy Father's Day

To My Dad
The summer before I left for college, I worked the night shift at a local hotel. My dad asked the village cops (he used to be village manager, so he knew them) to please drive by a couple times a night. LOL Thats my dad. Gotta love him.

And My Husband
I have been with Jeremiah for a long time. I have seen him go from riding a bike to a car. I have seen him graduate high school, basic training and college. I have seen him go from 160 pounds to over 200 (on purpose!). I have seen him go from bagging groceries to supporting a family of six. I have seen him grow spiritually and intellectually.

The best part, however, was seeing him become a dad. Our boys are very very blessed to have such a great dad. Jonah is still a mama's boy, but Jeremiah keeps reminding me that in a few months he will be his too.

Pictures

I feel like posting pictures is sort of a cop out for a blog entry, but we have been busy enjoying the outdoors (okay, okay i'm also in the middle of Pride and Prejudice). First is a picture of the only room that is really finished - the dining room. Next, is some pictures of some crates that I got at Michaels and painted. I didn't paint the little wooden shapes, they came painted. The boys had fun painting cardboard boxes with the leftover paint.

For my really long time readers, this is the dining set I wrote about a long time ago.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Elijah

The other night there was a loud noise outside that sent the boys scurrying out of their bedroom.

Isaac: What was that?
Sam: That scared me!
Elijah: That made my spidey-sense tingle!

First Haircut...

Jonah had his first haircut today...

The boy's portraits came in yesterday. Sorry about the flash. Our scanner has long since broken and I had to take a picture of a picture. Notice Jonah's hair before his haircut.

Sam's Imaginary Diet

A few days ago Sammy came up to me carrying a stack of legos. "Mommy, this is cake*" he informed me and than pretended to eat every single piece. The next day the stack of legos turned into pizza. "With cheese?" Isaac wanted to know. "Yup" he answered, in a tone that implied what are you gonna do about it? Again, he made a point to "eat" every single piece. Than the next day a rock turned into cheese.

I think it's time to find some more special treats that he can eat.

*Cake is off limits because of the eggs

If your children are into Spiderman...

Hang some white rope ("webs") from the trees and watch them swing for hours.
